Obituary of Laura Rankin Stokes

Laura Rankin Stokes, age 63, a resident of Abington, PA for the past 31 years, died on September 19, 2023. She was the beloved wife of David W. Stokes for 35 years. Born in Tenafly, NJ, Laura was the daughter of the late Gerard Rankin and the late Elizabeth Gammage Rankin. After graduating from Tenafly High School, in 1978, she studied Sociology at Hartwick College from where, in 1982, she earned her Bachelor's degree. Laura retired, in 2014, from Abington Presbyterian Church, where she was a pre-school teacher for 15 years. Earlier, she had worked for Manning Selvage & Lee, one of the world's largest advertising and media services conglomerates. She was a member of the Church of Atonement in Tenafly, NJ for 25 years. Laura was a devoted wife, homemaker and mother. She enjoyed gardening and was fond of animals, especially giraffes. She loved being in the company of family and friends and enjoyed spending time on a beach. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Amanda Combs Hebert and her husband Evan, her son, Ryan McCook Stokes and by her sister, Kathryn Rankin Terry. A service celebrating her life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 4, 2023, Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, where relatives and friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
