Obituary of Ruth Voegtly McClung

Ruth Voegtly McClung, age 101, a resident of Rydal Park, and previously of Bensalem and Abington, died on May 17, 2023. She was the devoted wife of the late Rev. Charles H. McClung, Jr. for 72 years. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob John Voegtly and the late Lillian Gross. Ruth was the daughter of an historic family of Pittsburgh's East Ohio Street area and grew up in Bellevue Borough. She was a graduate of Bellevue High School and National Louis University in Evanston, Illinois. Ruth was employed as a teacher and taught in Pennsylvania's Allegheny and Montgomery counties. She also taught Sunday school classes. Ruth was a member of Abington Presbyterian Church and was active on its Library Committee. She was also a previous member of Bensalem Presbyterian Church. Married in 1946 to Rev. Charles McClung, Ruth became mother, Den Mother, and cheering section to John A. McClung, M.D (Jane, Mary) and Rev. Charles H. McClung, III (Joan). She was the cherished grandmother of Felix, Daniel and Timothy. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 21, 2023, Auditorium of Rydal Park, 1515 The Fairway, Jenkintown, PA, where friends will be received after the service.
