Kristie - I am so sorry to hear of John's passing. I was on a train trip to WA to see my first great grandbaby in July when I first heard about it. I was unable to see the webcast on Saturday. Is it still on anywhere? I have good memories of your loving family and will be thinking of you as you take care of matters in the future. You and Andrew are so blessed to have such wonderful parents. Hugs and prayers! Judy Phipps

I am Becky (Doyle) Rohre. I was Rev. Berges' Church Secretary and later an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Adrian, Michigan. I worked with John from 1978 until he was called to a new congregation. About 13 years. My memories of him are many! We both put together his Sunday bulletins each week using a Commodore 64 computer, a massive offset press we learned to operate and a huge Xerox copier! No laptops just electric typewriters. John was larger than life to me and many in the congregation. We shared not only a great work relationship but also were good friends. He alerted me about a hearing loss I did not know I had in 1981 that I probably would have ignored except for his caring and finding an audiologist.
A special man who was as human as they rest of us. No egotistical airs often associated with pastors.
John now you are reunited with Eileen! God Bless You !

Hi Becky,
Thank you for your kind words about our dad! Both my brother and I remember your name from when we were children in Adrian. We had to laugh about the Commodore 64 computer, offset press, and Xerox copier! Dad was a techie all of his life! We also are glad that he has been reunited with Mom. Thank you for sharing your remembrance of our dad - it means a lot! He was a special man, and we are glad he touched many lives over the years. - Sincerely, Kristie & Andrew

Uncle John was a blessing and a delight to be around. A gift that could only come from our wonderful Creator. We know he is in good hands and at peace with the Father.
Uncle John always had a joke or factoid for every topic and situation. I knew when we visited that mom and I would be in for a lively conversation about world history, religion, or aliens! Aunt Eileen and Uncle John always made our summertime visits special. I remember going to museums and putting on a fashion show in the living room, with our own personal photographer on every trip! Ma and I like to joke about Uncle John using the super soaker on the squirrels when they tried to get on the bird feeder in Swarthmore.
John truly made friends wherever he went and when you walked the halls with him at Rydal he knew everyone by name and greeted them with his joy and great humor. His light spread into the lives of many and will continue to bring joy through the loving memories we share.
