Obituary of Allan Joseph Gargan

Allan Joseph Gargan, age 76, a long-time resident of Glenside, PA and formerly of Philadelphia, PA died on March 15, 2022. He was the devoted husband of Patricia Ann Casey Gargan for 57 years. Born in Elkins Park, PA, he was the son of the late Allan Gargan and the late Anne Mary Steven Gargan. Allan graduated from Abington High School in 1963. In 1976, he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from LaSalle University and later studied at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Allan served as Airman First Class with the US Air Force from 1963 – 1976 and was stationed in France and Mt. Home, ID. His entire working career as a Technical Specialist was spent with NOKIA Telecommunications Company. After retirement, Allan enjoyed working as a crossing guard for Abington Township for 15 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children and their spouses: Laurie Kelly, Michael and Wendy Gargan and Sean and Melissa Gargan; nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his sister, Anne Burr. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 26, 2022, Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1500 Old York Road, Abington, where relatives and friends will be received from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. A reception will follow the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Allan's name may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project. (www.woundedwarriorproject.org)
