Obituary of William Alan Rieber

WILLIAM ALAN RIEBER, D.O., age 97, a resident of Wyncote for the past 55-years died on May 26, 2011. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late Louis H. Rieber ad the late Grace Kaler Rieber. Dr. Rieber graduated from Cheltenham High School in 1933. He studied osteopathic medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and earned his degree in 1941. Dr. Reiber was a family physician and had maintained a practice for more than 58 years before retiring in 1999. He was a member of the American Osteopathic Association. He was a member of the Jenkintown Lyceum and a 63-year member of the Rotary Club of Jenkintown. He was also a life-member of the Nickerson Family Association in Chatham, MA. Dr. Reiber enjoyed gardening, traveling and skiing. He was an avid sailor and enjoyed navigating his sailboat "Eagle" along the eastern shore of the Chesapeake. He is survived by his loving companion, M. Aleen McKeever, and by many cousins and dear friends. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at Baron Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Road, Abington, where friends will be received from 10:00 until the time of the service. Burial will be in Doylestown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, 4180 City Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19131.
