Obituary of Alma Ash Leadbeater

Alma A. Leadbeater, age 93, a 20-year resident of the Rydal Park Retirement Community and formerly of Glenside, died on March 29, 2020. She was the devoted wife of the late Howard W. Leadbeater for 30 years.
Born in Jenkintown, Alma was the daughter of the late Leroy Ash and the late F. Louisa Leusch Ash.
Alma graduated from Abington High School and then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from West Chester State Teachers College, now West Chester University. She later earned a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Temple University. She was employed as a reading specialist with the Abington School District for 34 years, from where she retired in 1984.
Alma was a life-time member of Carmel Presbyterian Church in Glenside, where she was a pianist and sang in the choir. She was also involved with the Glenside Women's Group, Abington Hospice, Retired Teachers Association and Briar Bush Nature Center.
Some of her many interests include the arts, theater, traveling and playing the piano, but most of all spending time with her family.
She is survived by her loving children, Holly J. Watson and Corey D. Leadbeater, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Ash.
