Obituary of Betty E. Twining

Betty Erichson Twining, age 96, a resident of Glenside, PA for the past 32 years died on September 30, 2019. At various times throughout her long and full life, she resided in Elkins Park, PA, Philadelphia, PA, Lower Merion, PA and Pittsburgh, PA. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles W. Twining, Sr. for 35 years until his death in 1996.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Betty was the loving daughter of the late James Staughton Erichson and the late Mary Walker Erichson. Betty graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1940 and then went on to earn her Bachelor's degree from Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA in 1944. She was a devoted wife mother and homemaker. She retired, in 1961, from Bell of Pennsylvania where she was the Benefits Supervisor for 17 years.

She was a member of Abington Presbyterian Church for 6 years, where she was a member of Sarah Circle. Earlier in her life, she was a 50-year member of St. Luke's Reformed Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, where she served on the Women's Guild and was also a member of Narberth Methodist Church for 25 years.

She enjoyed the beaches of Ocean City, NJ and traveling to 49 states and many foreign countries. She also found enjoyment in reading, crossword puzzles, biking and bowling. She was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies. She loved her long lived cats including her current cat, Tabitha.

Betty is survived by her son, Charles W. Twining, Jr.

Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, October 7, 2019 at Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, where relatives and friends will be received from noon until the time of the service and after the service. Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Roslyn, PA.
