Obituary of Priscilla Elizabeth King

Priscilla Elizabeth Alderfer Stanley Casperson King, 77, of Tucson, Arizona, was at home when she passed from this life on September 8th, 2018. She was surrounded by the love of her family who were present, and of family and friends both near and far. She is survived by William D. King, her loving husband of 11 years. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, and raised in Oaklyn, NJ, Priscilla was the only beloved child of Herbert R. and Helen R. A. Stanley. She was a proud member of the Collingswood (NJ) Class of '59, where she gained the nickname "Max". After graduating from the Centenary College for Women, she married Kenneth P. Casperson (deceased). They were married for 25 years, and had four children together. Priscilla was a true people person, making new friends and maintaining lifelong friendships until the end of her life. She never forgot a birthday or failed to recognize a special occasion. She often said her cousins and earliest friends were the brothers and sisters she never had growing up. She spent many happy hours corresponding with former classmates from high school, planning reunions and get-togethers. Although she spent her adult years in California, Virginia, and finally Arizona, she remained a Jersey Girl at heart, and returned as often as she could to walk on the sands and breathe the salt air of Ocean City. Priscilla enjoyed traveling; she and her husband Bill took many trips a year to visit family and friends and to see as many sights as possible in our America the Beautiful. She was passionate about the pursuit of family history and genealogy. She enjoyed helping others discover their own lineage once she had completely traced her own. She helped create beautiful needlework and artistic designs for her former congregations in Virginia; St. John's Lutheran in Springfield, and Nativity Lutheran in Alexandria. She gained a love of flowers through her work at the Blossom Shop in Alexandria, and was a lifelong believer that all things should be done with beauty and grace. Priscilla loved all of her children and grandchildren deeply. She is survived by her daughters Susan C. Casperson (Anna McGough), Sarah C. Perkins (William), and Linda C. Casperson of Tucson, Arizona, and her son Andrew K. Casperson (Julie), of Woodbridge, Virginia. She was the proud grandmother of eight grandchildren. She also loved her granddogs. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior, 821 Homestead Rd, Jenkintown, PA; the church where her parents were married in 1934. Family and friends will be received beginning at 9:00AM. Interment will be at Northwood Cemetery in Philadelphia. Reception lunch to follow. Priscilla loved flowers, but cared deeply that tributes should be made to help fund Thyroid Cancer research.
