Obituary of Norma V. Hutchison

Norma VanTuyle Hutchison, age 85, a resident of Rydal Park in Jenkintown, PA died on February 15, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late James Hutchison, M.D., and mother to James Hutchison of North Brunswick, NJ, Elizabeth H. and Shephard Johnson of Marion, MA and the late Robert C. Hutchison. The big joy in her life was her grandsons, Charles Tucker, Spencer and Nick. Born in Harding, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles S. VanTuyle and the late Minnie R. DeWitt. Mrs. Hutchison graduated from West Pittston High School in West Pittston, PA and Penn State University where she earned a BS in Education. Mrs. Hutchison loved teaching third grade at Overlook School and writing and directing plays there in the early years of her marriage. She was a member of Abington Presbyterian Church for 58 years and spent time as a Sunday School Teacher, Chairman of the Christian Ed Committee, Deacon, Elder, Trustee and most recently ACE. In addition, Mrs. Hutchison was Past President of Presbyterian Women and Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of Philadelphia in addition to Chairman of the Evangelism Committee of the Presbytery. In her later years, she was President of the Resident Association at Rydal Park where she was thrilled to be able to have the time to devote to playing Bridge. She was also a 30-year member of Chapter L of Abington, P.E.O., a philanthropic educational organization. Her memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, where friends will be received following the service. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Mission Fund, Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001.
