Dear Penny,
I was so sorry to learn from Allan Davey that your dear Rob passed away this week. I have great high school memories of "Robbie" and our wonderful crowd of friends. I know many were still close to you and Rob -- and I hope you will continue to share good stories of great times together.
I lost my Bob to leukemia 1 1/2 years ago, after 48 years of marriage. The grief journey is not for the faint-hearted. It sounds as if you have a large and loving family of 3 sons and 10 grandchildren -- and lots of friends. I know they will bring you companionship and great memories, but, at the end of the day, this is your journey. The best advice that someone told me was, "You can do this -- just do it one day at a time."
I hope you will find peace among your family and friends, joy in the memories and hope for a future that includes embracing each new day as a gift to be lived to the fullest.

I am so sorry to hear about Rob's passing. I met Rob many years ago and became a client of his when I worked for Regional Surgical Associates. I'll never forget how kind and down to earth he was. I loved his sense of humor. He was always so much fun at our office Christmas parties. He'll be missed by many. My condolences to the family.

My heart is broken. I am so devastated by this news. I just spoke with Rob (Robby to me) at the beginning of last week. He was "over the moon" at feeling so much better and back at the helm. I will so miss him for many reasons...his positive attitude, dry wit, support and always giving his clients/friends such comfort in trying times. He was a giant in my eyes as well as a devoted husband to Penny and his entire family. We always had a chat about family.
I recently told him he was one of the finest men I've ever known. I will never forget him. My thoughts & prayers are with Penny, who he adored, his children and grandchildren.

I have know Rob, Penny & the family since I joined Penn Mutual in my 2nd engagement in 1979 & have always viewed Rob as one of the most professional Insurance & Financial advisors I have ever known. I remember as if it were yesterday, the year Rob led Penn Mutual in sales Nationally. I was at the convention with my wife Barbara, ( don't even remember where) and as Rob & Penny entered the reception as the king and queen of Penn Mutual, I was so overwhelmed with how he and Penny handled themselves at that moment and said quietly to my wife, wow wonder what it would be like one day to lead the Penn Mutual in sales. Rob was one of the incon's that rarely comes along in our industry, and I am so honored to have had the pleasure to spend time with, learn from and brainstorm with one of the great's. Rob has done so much for so many and the world is far better because he has been part of it. Now other's will carry on the Holmes name for a long time to come. To Penny, Buck and other's in the Holmes clan, we'll all miss Rob and his memories will live on.
