Obituary of Beverly Lois Von Kleeck

Beverly L. von Kleeck, age 73, of Glenside, PA and formerly of Glassboro, NJ died on November 21, 2014.
Born in Darby, PA, she was the daughter of the late John S. von Kleeck, Sr. and the late Ruth W. von Kleeck.
Having attended Hatboro Horsham High School as a scholar athlete, Bev received, in 1963, a BA in Health and Physical Education from Ursinus College located in Collegeville, Pa. After a short career as a Health and Physical Education teacher in Pennsylvania Bev relocated to Glassboro, NJ to continue her career in the same field.
Bev taught Physical Education in the Glassboro, New Jersey Public School System from 1966-1999. While teaching she continued her Educational studies at Glassboro College where she received a Master's of Education.
During her teaching career, she had the opportunity to coached 3 high school varsity sports: field hockey, basketball and lacrosse.
Her basketball coaching record was outstanding. Bev had an 83% winning record which is the highest of any women's basketball coach in Glassboro history. From 1970 - 1973 her teams won the Olympic Conference Championships and in 1972, they advanced to the NJSIAA Group 1 tournament finals.
Upon retiring Bev returned to Springfield, Pa. as a care giver for her aging mother. Later she took courses in horticulture at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa. She then moved into horseback riding and it's use a therapy for developmentally challenged youths.
As a horse and cat lover Bev continued to share her love for an active life through her callings as a teacher and therapist. This spirit of giving was the hallmark of her life and will continue well beyond her life efforts.
Bev is survived by her brothers: John S. von Kleeck, Jr. and his wife, Barbara, B. Wade von Kleeck and his wife Cissy, D. Lawrence von Kleeck, D.P.S and R. Lewis von Kleeck, D.D.S. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and by her dearest friend, Linda Angeline.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Road, Abington, where friends will be received from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in Philadelphia Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Pegasus Therapeutic Riding Academy, 8297 Bustleton Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19152.
