Obituary of Harry Elmer Reiff

HARRY E, REIFF, age 90, a resident of Warminster, PA and formerly of Ambler, PA and Jenkintown, PA passed away on July 3, 2014 at Rose Gardens at Ann's Choice in Warminster. He was the beloved husband of Helen Reiff.
Born in Allentown in 1924, Harry was the son of the late Harry N. Reiff and the late Ruth C. Hartzell Reiff.
Harry graduated from high school in June of 1942 and then in December of that year, he enlisted in the US Army. He served as a medic with the 327th Medical Battalion, 102nd Infantry and spent 18 months in Europe.
After returning home from military service, Harry earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Lehigh University and later earned his Doctorate from the University of Minnesota. His entire professional career was with Smith, Kline and French. He began working in the Research and Development Division in 1955. He retired in 1984.
He was a noted collector of Postal Stationery and a past president of the United States Postal Stationery Society, and was a long-time member and Trustee Emeritus of the Montgomery County Historical Society. His book, Reiff Families in America, was published in 1986.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons; Harry and his wife Kathy Reiff, David and his wife Libby Reiff and Tom Reiff and by three grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 22, 2014 in the Chapel of Ann's Choice, 31000 Ann's Choice Way, Warminster, PA 18974, where friends will be received from 9:15 until the time of the service. Interment in St. Mark's Cemetery, Pennsburg, PA will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Historical Society of Montgomery County, 1654 DeKalb St., Norristown, PA 19401-5415.
