Obituary of Charles Grant Harris

The Reverend Charles G. Harris, age 80, a resident of Roslyn, PA died on September 16, 2013.
He was born in San Francisco, CA to Ethel and Gerald Harris. He joined the Wiltshire Presbyterian Church in Los Angeles, CA and there made a decision to become a pastor.
Chuck graduated from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA and then received his Master's of Divinity at Princeton Seminary NJ. After graduating, he became Assistant Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church in Jamestown, NY. After marrying his wife Irene, he completed a Chaplaincy degree in Houston, TX. His other pastorates included, South Wales Presbyterian Church in South Wales, NY, Brick Presbyterian Church in Rochester NY. While being a Pastor in Rochester, he received a Master's degree in Theology at Colgate Divinity School.
Chuck then moved to Philadelphia, PA where he received a Master's of Organizational Development at Drexel University. Chuck worked for different companies using his background in organizational development. Carrying on a "Tent Ministry" he took on a stated supply position at Hope Presbyterian Church in South Philadelphia, where he pastored for 20 years. He reached out to four other churches in the community, organizing vacation bible school, a GED program, and a march against drugs.
His community service in Roslyn, PA included being a chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol for 20 years, being a Republican Councilman, and being a member of the Roslyn Town Watch.
He was the beloved husband of Irene Telly Harris. He is also survived by his loving daughters and their husbands and children; Jeannie and Wilmer Villacorta, children: Aubrey and Elliot Bannister, Jordan, Kelly and Nicole, Catharine and Joseph Farnen, and children: Alyson and Daniel Stewart and Jenna, Nancy and Richard Fraley and children: Corinne, Caleb and Karis, and Caroline and John Findley and children: Tyler, Josiah, Harrison, Grace and Pheobe.
