Obituary of Carol Ann Mackey

Carol Ann Mackey, a resident of Ambler, Pennsylvania passed away quietly in the early hours of July 1, 2013. Carol, a 1994 graduate of Beaver College, worked in computer programming for IMS Health since 1976. Carol enjoyed photography and travel to Ireland and Scotland.
Carol was the second child, of three, born on June 17, 1956 in Dugway, Utah, to Robert P. Mackey and Ruth M. Vance. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her sister, Linda M. Siragusa, of Herndon, VA, and her brother and his wife, Robert P. Mackey, Jr. and wife JoAnne (Brookes) of Hatfield, PA, as well as a niece, Melissa K. Mackey, and two nephews, Matthew G. Siragusa and Brad A. Siragusa.
Carol graduated from Abington High School ('74) and received further studies at Montgomery County Community College prior to transferring to Beaver College where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. During her life she worked for more than 35 years for IMS Health. Carol was a member, and Past Matron, of The Order of the Eastern Star, Old York Road #346. She was a member, and Past Queen, of the Daughters of the Nile, Allah Temple No. 28. She was a member, and Past Worthy Advisor, of the Martha B. Mathers Rainbow Assembly #28 of Jenkintown, PA and was a recipient of The Grand Cross of Color. She cherished the many friendships forged over her years shared in these fraternal organizations.
Carol was a member of Abington Presbyterian Church, Abington, PA for over 40 years. Her faith was of great importance to her and was a constant source of strength during her life. Previously she attended Carmel Presbyterian Church in Glenside, PA and Ambler Presbyterian Church, in Ambler, PA. She leaves behind many cherished family and friends. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2013, Helweg & Rowland Funeral Home, 1059 Old York Road Abington, where friends will be received from 10:00 -11:00 AM. Eastern Star Service will be held at 10:15 AM. A reception will follow the memorial service. Committal service in Forest Hills Cemetery will be held at 2:00 PM.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Allah Temple No. 28, D.O.N. with a notation for Philadelphia Shriner's Hospital Transportation Fund, c/o Laura Kammerle, 549 Burgess St., Phila., PA 19116. This fund assists in transporting children, with severe burn and/or orthopaedic injuries, and their families, to Shriner treatment facilities.
