Obituary of Edgar Ross Forman

Edgar Ross Forman, P.E., formerly of Erdenheim, Penn., a mechanical professional engineer and a pioneer in automated systems and control engineering, died of heart failure Monday, October 29 at Normandy Farms Estates. He was active for many years in Mathcounts an outreach program the National Society of Professional Engineers. He was also a former president of the NSPE Valley Forge Chapter. As chairman of the Education Committee of the Instrument Society of America, he initiated the Philadelphia Plan of coordinating courses leading to certification and was a member of the industrial visitation team to China. Ross was a Fellow of the Society and received the following awards: Donald P. Eckman, Golden Achievement, and Outstanding Service. He lectured at Drexel University on Chemical Engineering Control Systems. In 1990, E. Ross Forman was "Engineer of the Year" of the Delaware Valley. Mr. Forman was a past president of the Erdenheim Civic Association and the Normandy Farms Estates Resident Association. The NFE Conservation Committee was his last enterprise. His actives in APO (National Service Fraternity) included being a Past President and on the Board of Directors. After his retirement from business, Ross became a Mason. He was a member of St. Alban-Swain Lodge, York and Scottish Rites, Commandery, Joppa Council and the Shine. In later years, he attended Concordia Lodge. During World War II, Ross Forman served with the Army 94th Infantry Division in the 319 Engineers in Europe. After the war, he earned BSME and MBA from Drexel University. Ross Forman was born in Camden on October 5, 1923, the son of Edgar Charles and Annie (Baragwanath) Forman. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Alma Kuppinger Forman; by his daughter, Dianne Forman; by his son, Bruce Ross Forman and by his sister, Mildred Montana. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Masonic Service at 10:00 AM and Memorial Service at 10:30 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2012, in the Auditorium of Normandy Farms Estates, 9000 Twin Silo Drive, Blue Bell.
