Henrietta Latta "Benny" Evans, age 88, a resident of the Rydal Park Retirement Community and formerly of Abington and Rydal died on October 7, 2012. She was the devoted wife of the late Rowland C. Evans for 29 years until his death in 1976.
Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Albert W. Latta and the late Helen Smedes Latta.
Benny attended Abington Friends School and graduated from Abington High School in 1942 and later attended Harcum Junior College. She earned her bachelors degree in Liberal Arts from Syracuse University in 1946.
Benny began her 35-year career as a Real Estate Agent in 1971 with the Craig Shield Real Estate Agency. In 1978, she became an agent with G. Wilson Price Real Estate. In 1995, she joined Quinn & Wilson Realtors in Abington, from where she retired. She was a member of Eastern Montgomery County Real Estate Board.
Benny served as the director for the Jenkintown Day Nursery and also volunteered with Abington Memorial Hospital.
She was a life-time member of Huntingdon Valley County Club, where she enjoyed golfing and playing tennis. She also enjoyed playing Bridge.
Benny was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Jenkintown.
Benny is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Rowland C., Jr. "Randy" and Linda Evans, Bruce L. and Lisa Evans and Beth E. and Stephen Sullivan: by her grandchildren; Alyson Beha, Rowland C. "Tripp" Evans, III, Evan Sullivan, Arielle Evans, Kelsey Sullivan and Marissa Evans and by her great-grandson, James Beha.
