Obituary of Clarence Keller Stretton

Clarence Keller Stretton, age 95, a resident of the Messiah Village in Mechanicsburg, PA and formerly of Willow Grove and the Frankford Section of Philadelphia died on January 24, 2012.
He was the devoted husband of the late Edith Moore Stretton, for 56 years, until her death on January 24, 2004.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Arthur Stretton and the late Cora Brunner Stretton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Arthur Stretton and Thomas Stretton.
Mr. Stretton graduated from Frankford High School in 1935. He served with the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre as Petty Officer during World War II.
After his return from military service, Mr. Stretton studied Accounting at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, from where he earned his Associates degree in 1947.
Mr. Stretton worked for the Quaker City Chocolate Company, who manufactured Good and Plenty candy. He retired as Office Manager in 1982, after 47-years of service.
He was a former member of the Home Building Society and had served as their Secretary and was also a former member of the Frankford Exchange Club and served as their President. He was a Mason, Rotarian and had served a Judge of Elections for the 23rd Ward.
He was a lifelong and active member of the Presbyterian Church of Frankford, where he served as Deacon, Elder, Trustee, Clerk of Sessions, Sunday School Teacher and had been the Superintendant of Sunday School for 50 years.
He enjoyed Lionel trains, gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his daughter, Hazel S. Pierce of Harrisburg, PA; by his sons and their wives: Samuel C. and Jeanne Stretton of West Chester, PA, John A. and Patricia Stretton of Lower Moreland, PA and Allen L. and Rhonda Stretton of Jamison, PA and by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren . He was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Stretton.
Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday. January 28, 2012 from 10:00 -11:00 AM, Presbyterian Church of Frankford, 4301 Frankford Avenue (at Church Street), Philadelphia, where his funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Alzheimer's' Association, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
